I had no doubt about it. I knew Senator Hillary Clinton was going to rock the Democratic Convention last night, and boy did she. Day One of the event in Denver was a snoozefest, starting off with a lackluster performance by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. Michelle Obama did a fine job, however her job was to let us know more about her husband and presumptive nominee Barack Obama. What was missing was the passion of the Democratic Party, and Hillary more than made up for it.
Senator Clinton has gained the respect of her supporters, but more importantly, Obama’s supporters, and even, gasp, many Republicans. When she quoted Harriet Tubman, it was obvious that those words inspired her when others in her Party told her to quit. Hillary showed us the fighter she is, unfortunately, it came a little too late in the campaign to be our nominee. I ask all Obama supporters to go to www.hillaryclinton.com and make a donation for the gift Hillary gave them. Really, her words were what they say in those American Express ads ‘priceless’. Now it’s time for Hillary’s supporters to put aside their bad feelings and support the person who’s issues mirror those of their candidate. As someone who fervently supported her, I know it’s not an easy task.
The bar is now set very high for Barack Obama. I’m sure many people watched Senator Clinton in Denver and thought, ‘wow, if only…..”. Barack Obama and his supporters should be very happy about Hillary’s speech, and he needs to hit one out of the park on Thursday. I believe he is up to the task, and that just as Hillary helped make him a better candidate in the Primary, her terrific speech will make his appearance phenomenal tomorrow night.
