Election Day is finally upon us. After months and months of campaigning it all comes down to the individual voter. Don’t believe that nonsense that your vote doesn’t matter. You have the last few Presidential Elections to prove that every last vote counts. I’m glad to see that Lackawanna County is sticking with the paper ballot. I wish every county in America would. What could be easier? It’s the perfect union of the past and future. You use the good old-fashioned number 2 pencil and paper, then the technology of the optical scanner and “voila”.
I’m hoping that this is the last Presidential election in Pennsylvania where you can only vote on the first Tuesday in November. I believe that we need to get with the program like 30 other states and allow early voting. Better yet, how about early voting and a National Holiday on Election Day so that the polls aren’t crammed during the morning and afternoon rush.?I say get rid of Columbus Day and replace it with Election Day. It would be a boon for the retailers too. Once Halloween is done, you get Election Day off, go vote, and then head to the malls to start buying Christmas presents. I know you’re with me on this!!
This has been a pretty contentious election battle, and no doubt, a sizable number of our citizens will be pretty ticked off Wednesday morning. That’s assuming we’ll know who the President is by then. As someone who’s faced a life threatening illness I’ll try and put it in perspective. There’s very few things in life that are so important that you’ll get yourself sick over it. This isn’t one of them. Now get out and vote!
