This past Saturday on Sports Talk Saturday we were talking about the Super Bowl (of course) and I asked each caller where they'd be watching it. About 95% of the callers said they'd be watching it at home, which prompted me to coin a new catch phrase, “Staying home is the new going out.” After a while the callers were using the phrase at the end of their calls.
Well, I bet they're glad they stayed in, because you might not have been able to enjoy the game as much with other people yapping at a party.
Everything about the Super Bowl was super this year. Big plays, a comeback, a textbook winning 2 minute drill, and a great halftime show. Plus the story of the game was relayed by the best play-by-play team around, Al Michaels and John Madden who were superb.
If the game stunk, yeah, maybe being at a party would have been the saving grace, but last night, the last thing you needed were distractions. The Super Bowl telecast was party enough!
