Powell Pleads Guilty In Corruption Probe

Attorney Robert Powell made it official yesterday. The attorney from lower Luzerne County pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of failing to report a felony. He also admitted he helped former judges Mark Ciavarella and Michael Conahan to hide money and file false federal income tax returns. Powell kicked back in excess of $770-thousand to the judges for their role that led the county to use a juvenile dentention center in Pittston Township in which, at that time, Powell was part-owner.
